Responding to Mr. Walford: Been there, done that (several times, Mr. Ivereigh)

June 23, 2017 (Steven O’Reilly) – Austin Ivereigh recently asserted the other day that no one had responded to articles written by Stephen Walford (in Vatican Insider) on the subject of the magisterium of Pope Francis in regard to Amoris Laetitia.  I think the implication was these articles were too powerful for an answer.  Yawn. For the record,  this blog posted immediate responses to Stephen Walford at the time – back in February and March.  In fact, Mr. Walford’s article is what inspired my inaugural article; wherein I explained my entry into blogdom as follows:

“(February 18, 2017) – I have long toyed with the idea of blogging. This itch has been held firmly in check by the conviction that a blogger should be one of two things: either a very interesting person or at least someone with something very interesting to say. Ideally, one is both. Fearing myself neither of these things, I contented myself with wearing out my local archbishop, pastor, friends and family with my screeds over developments in the Church, especially during these past few years. Yet, a recent article published in Vatican Insider [1] on the La Stampa website has prompted me–against my better judgment that I lack both of the aforementioned qualities–to enter the blogosphere and comment on the events of our time.”

Now, fully granting this wee blog – http://www.RomaLocutaEst.com – has escaped the attention of the wider world; both Mr. Walford and Mr Ivereigh may be forgiven for the false conclusion no one had responded. The world may little note or remember what is said here; but – by golly – we said it. RomaLocutaEst.com has responded several times; and is ready to respond again, and again.

Below are the links to the three articles which responded to Mr. Walford.  To date, nether Mr. Walford – nor Mr. Ivereigh for that matter – have responded.  These posts may be found here:

Pope Francis’ Predecessors come to the Defense of his Magisterium? Well–Yes and No, Mr. Walford” which was first posted February 19, 2017.

Honorius Redivivus – Addendum” first posted February 22, 2017.

Then, in response to a second article by Mr. Walford I wrote:

Answering Mr. Walford’s Questions on Amoris Laetitia – Really” first posted on March 28, 2017.

Today, RomaLocutaEst is in Kennebunkport with his wife.  He will have more to say on the weak apologetics offered in favor of communion for adulterers upon his return to civilization.  My apologies for any typos. . .this is my first blog using one thumb on my cell phone.  The other was tied behind my back to make it fair for Mr. Walford and Mr. Ivereigh.
