May 25, 2023 (Steven O’Reilly) – The Major League Baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, recently invited the so-called “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” to a “Pride” night this coming June 16 at Dodger stadium. Having a “Pride” night, in itself, is revolting, but extending an invitation to the so-called “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” is an overt slap in the face of the Catholic Faith, and of all Catholics. The “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” can only be considered to an anti-Catholic group. I won’t soil this blog with links to their site.
After an initial round of complaints, the Dodger organization re-thought its initial invitation, and then retracted it. The Dodgers rightfully disinvited the “Sisters”. Unfortunately, soon after disinviting the “Sisters”, the Dodgers were cowed by the Alphabet Soup Mafia, and then re-invited this anti-Catholic group. In fact, the “Sisters” were invited to accept a “Community Hero Award” at Dodger stadium.
Bishop Barron recently issued a fantastic statement regarding the Dodger organization’s renewed invitation to the “Sisters.”
Roma Locuta Est extends its hearty thanks to Bishop Barron for this great statement calling for a boycott of the LA Dodgers! Thank you, Your Excellency! Well done!! God bless you.
That said, and in no way detracting from the credit and thanks rightfully owed to His Excellency, or diminishing what His Excellency suggests, Roma Locuta Est would simply asks: WHY STOP WITH THE DODGERS? They have ignored reason, and calls to reconsider. They plan to go ahead with their invitation of the anti-Catholic “Sisters.” Bishop Barron is right to ask, “why are we tolerating this?”
Bishop Barron is right, we shouldn’t tolerate it as Catholics. Baseball is America’s past time. If the Dodgers are not listening to reason, then perhaps it is time for the US Bishops to call upon ALL American Catholics to boycott all of Major League Baseball. The MLB, along with the Dodgers, must be made to understand that it is not acceptable for America’s past time to be anti-Catholic.
The MLB should be pressured to “convince” the Dodgers to disinvite the “Sisters,” and be made to understand that is what is good for the game, and America. If the Dodgers will not do so on their own, the MLB should be pressured with the threat of a universal boycott of all of MLB baseball if the Dodgers (1) fail to disinvite the anti-Catholic group, the “Sister of Perpetual Indulgence,” AND (2) fail to apologize to the Catholic Church, and to all American Catholics for having invited an anti-Catholic group in the first place.
Catholics should contact their bishops. Ask them to have their diocesan priests in all Catholic parishes, at all Catholic masses between now and June 16th to read out an appeal to all Catholics from the pulpit to boycott Major League Baseball if the “Sisters” are not disinvited.

I have been boycotting the NFL and MLB for four years. “Welcome to the party. Pal!”

John, thanks for the comment.
Good grief. Pirates, too. Need to check the Braves….but I’d bet we’ll see a lot of similar crap throughout the league during “pride” month.
I’ve been boycotting the NFL. I think Barron was certainly right on about the Dodgers….but I do think the MLB needs to be threatened with one. This all needs to stop.
Thanks.

Several years ago my once-beloved Chicago Cubs put out a video about the problem of the bullying of “homosexual youth.” Good grief.

P.O’B, thanks for the comment. Good grief…indeed!
They all seem to be working off the same memo. I hope there is enough of a groundswell of support to give the MLB, and other institutions, like Target, the “Bud Light” treatment.
Time to take back our culture. Onward, Christian soldiers.
God bless,
Steve
