A discussion regarding Benepapism

July 8, 2022 (Steven O’Reilly) – Recently, Eric Sammons of Crisis Magazine invited me onto his podcast to discuss Benepapism with him.  The replay for that episode may be found here:

“Is Benedict Still the Pope? (Guest: Steven O’Reilly)”

For those with an interest in the Benepapist controversy, and who are perhaps finding Roma Locuta Est for the first time, here are the site’s compilations of articles, which make the case against Benepapism:

  1. The Case against those who claim “Benedict is (still) pope”
  2. Summa Contra the BiP Theory (Why Benedict XVI is NOT the pope)

I would recommend beginning with the “The Case Against those who claim “Benedict is (still) pope.” In addition, during the program, there was some discussion of the ongoing ‘Civil War’ within Benepapism between those who believe Benedict invalidly resigned due to a “substantial error”, and those who believe Benedict willfully ‘faked’ his resignation as part of a plan to thwart modernists within the Church. Roma Locuta Est articles on this ‘Civil War’ include A Benepapist Civil War? and Benedict XVI: strategic genius or theological fool?.  The Benepapist “Plan B” theory was also mentioned. My articles on that include Benedict’s Plan “B” from Outer Space and Benedict’s Plan B from Outer Space – the Sequel.

My thanks again to Mr. Sammons for the invite and the discussion.
